Lot 172 – Magic Millions Premier Sale
(Gold Coast)
Chestnut Filly 2006
By General Nediym Ex Princess Amelie (Rahy)
Vendor: Glenlogan Park Stud
Buyer: Blue Sky Thoroughbreds
Price: $135,000
Filly Fund Shareholding: 50%
Trained by: Trevor Andrews (Ascot)
Description:
This filly is a real runner, she looks an early 2yo and was born and raised with the QLD sun on her back at Glenlogan Park Stud, the same farm Blue Sky purchased She’s Meaner from 12 months ago. Her sire won the Magic Millions and the VRC Newmarket and on her Dam’s side, the filly’s second dam is the Snowdrift family of Snowland, Snippetson and most recently Portillo. We were delighted to purchase this filly especially with her half brother Dane Rhythm coming out to win his 2nd start as a 2yo impressively at Doomben 2 days after she went through the ring. Trevor Andrews will train the filly in WA and target the Perth Magic Millions race and early black type success in the West.

(Gold Coast)
Bay Filly 2006
By Danzero Ex Seattle Red (Red Ransom)
Vendor: Glenlogan Park Stud
Buyer: Blue Sky Thoroughbreds
Price: $300,000
Filly Fund Shareholding: 50%
Trained by: Gai Waterhouse (Randwick)
Description:
A gorgeous filly with a great action, this filly reminds me a lot of She’s Meaner and again was born and raised at Glenlogan Park Stud. Her sire Danzero won the Golden Slipper and her mother Seattle Red (a winner herself) is a half sister to Golden Slipper winner Prowl and Wellington Guineas winner I Rock My World. We have combined again with Gai Waterhouse here and hope to have one good enough to have a crack at some nice 2yo races come the end of the year.

Lot 477 – Magic Millions Premier Sale
(Gold Coast)
Chestnut Filly 2006
By Encosta De Lago Ex Allez France (Hennessy)
Vendor: Coolmore Stud
Buyer: Blue Sky Thoroughbreds/BBA Ireland
Price: $625,000
Filly Fund Shareholding: 30%
Trained by: David Hayes (Flemington)
Description:
One of, if not “The” filly of the Magic Millions Sale in our opinion. Blue Sky combined with renowned agent Adrian Nicol to secure the Allez France filly by Australia’s leading stallion in Encosta De Lago. A fantastic individual with greater size and scope as a yearling than her stakes winning half-sister, Widden Stakes winner Superfly. Leading trainer David Hayes was delighted to get this filly into the Lindsay Park stable after considerable success with Superfly. With her pedigree and looks, we loved this filly from day one and are very hopeful of her chances come Spring and Autumn next year.

Lot 70 – Magic Millions Premier Sale
(Gold Coast)
Bay Colt 2006
By Flying Spur Ex Murphy’s Arch (Archregent)
Vendor: Southern Cross Breeders
Buyer: Blue Sky Thoroughbreds/Dean Hawthorn
Price: $550,000
Stallion Fund / Arrowfield Stud & Associates Shareholding: 50%
Trained by: David Hayes (Flemington)
Description:
A cracking colt early in the sale, the Murphy’s Arch was popular with plenty of buyers, as an outstanding individual and being the half brother to former boom 2yo stakes winner Murphy’s Blue Boy. By Flying Spur, this colt is a good size however uses all his body when moving with a great action for a bigger yearling. While he may not be a spring prospect, we are looking forward to seeing what this colt can do come the Autumn of 2009. Flying Spur, last year’s champion sire can do no more and the mare (by Archregent) has thrown a crack 2yo before, so he is every chance this colt early on and perhaps as a Guineas prospect at 3.

Lot 688 – Magic Millions Premier Sale
(Gold Coast)
Bay Colt 2006
By Redoute’s Choice Ex Dottaressa (Dr Grace)
Vendor: Stratheden Stud
Buyer: Blue Sky Thoroughbreds
Price: $460,000
Stallion Fund / Arrowfield Stud & Associates Shareholding: 100%
Trained by: John O’Shea (Randwick)
Description:
A lovely colt by a champion sire from a very good Group winning dam in Dottoressa. This colt was medium size, not too heavy with a great action. Many of you will remember his dam Dottoressa running in Sydney when successful in the Adrian Knox Group 3 and 2nd in the Group 1 Chipping Norton behind Tie The Knot. Admired by many on the grounds I think we benefitted from a few buyers of big colts perhaps holding back for Easter at Inglis. In hindsight as always, the Magic Millions is great value and this colt was well bought at $460,000. In Sydney I am certain he would have gone close to twice that figure. A lovely colt to be trained by top Sydney trainer John O’Shea, (who was delighted after being under bidder on him through the ring!).

Lot 43 – William Inglis Easter Yearling Sale Select 1 (Newmarket)
Bay Colt 2006
By More Than Ready Ex Common Smytzer (Snippets)
Vendor: Makybe Stud
Buyer: Blue Sky Thoroughbreds
Price: $485,000
Stallion Fund / Arrowfield Stud & Associates Shareholding: 50%
Trained by: Lee Freedman (Rye)
Description:
A nice colt here by the sire of Sebring in More Than Ready. This fella could be anything being a half brother to top 2yo this season in Exceedingly Good. I thought he was a bit underdone in his preparation for the sale and therefore was bought well at $485,000. A very exciting prospect this with Lee Freedman stating the colt was a mirror of his half brother sold through last year’s sale for a similar price of $400,000. He’ll head straight to Markdel, the Freedman’s operation in Victoria to be broken and pre-trained and we look forward to seeing whether he can emulate the feats of his half brother come the Spring.

Lot 117 – William Inglis Easter Yearling Sale Select 1 (Newmarket)
Bay Colt 2006
By Redoute’s Choice Ex French Cut (Snippets)
Vendor: Brooklyn Lodge
Buyer: Blue Sky Thoroughbreds/Dean Hawthorn
Price: $750,000
Stallion Fund / Arrowfield Stud & Associates Shareholding: 66%
Trained by: Paul Messara (Scone/Randwick)
Description:
Probably my favourite colt of the sale this one, so athletic and such a great mover, not too heavy and looks a real runner. This colt again by Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice from Snippets mare French Cut is the ¾ brother to Stratum, the Golden Slipper winner and now resident sire at Widden Stud.
The cross works having produced Group 1 winning sprinter Snitzel, and you need only take one look at this colt to believe in him. He will have every chance with trainer Paul Messara at his new Scone training complex and we are over the moon to have him in the Stallion Fund.

Lot 322 – William Inglis Easter Yearling Sale Select 1 (Newmarket)
Bay Colt 2006
By Redoute’s Choice Ex Red Hot Mama (Red Ransom)
Vendor: Bellerive Stud
Buyer: Blue Sky Thoroughbreds
Price: $1,000,000
Stallion Fund / Arrowfield Stud & Associates Shareholding: 65%
Trained by: Neville Parnham (Ascot)
Description:
A very neat, racy, athletic individual here, he screams 2yo at you this colt and it took some lengthy negotiation to get this colt into our fund. Initially we thought this colt would make too much money for us to secure him, but after vendor Jonathan Munz agreed to stay in for a 25% share and some WA clients of Blue Sky’s came in for another 10%, the Stallion Fund had their last colt and what a horse to round out the team! Premier WA trainer Neville Parnham will take charge of this colt from former crack 2yo mare Red Hot Mama, herself a half sister to VRC Oaks winner Hollow Bullet. Should the colt look like standing up, Neville will bring him over for a tilt at the Eastern State 2yo races in the Spring and Autumn.

Vendor: Toreby Park
Buyer: Blue Sky Thoroughbreds

A 2yo type all over this colt, and an ideal acquisition for the Racing Fund. At $50,000, we have plenty of options here. By Oratorio, Adelaide Magic Millions and 3 time stakes winning 2yo trained by Lee Freedman, from a sister to stakes performed Sky’s The Limit, (family of Ancient Song etc), this guy looks a real runner and Ascot trainer Trevor Andrews is looking forward to getting this colt out and running before the end of the year.

Lot 213 - William Inglis Classic Yearling Sale
(Newmarket)
Chestnut Colt 2006
By Dubai Destination Ex Fairy Tree (Rahy)
Vendor: Robyn Wise (As Agent)
Buyer: Blue Sky Thoroughbreds
Price: $20,000
Racing Fund Shareholding: 100%
Trained by: Nick Olive (Canberra)
Description:
A real get up and run 2yo type here by the sire of the good stakes performed juvenile Dubai To Sydney. The Classic sale has a fantastic record of producing quality gallopers at reasonable prices and I think we bought well here for the Racing Fund. This colt is big and strong with a great action and has a hind-quarter that looks like V12 outboard motor! Our Racing Fund Investors will have a lot of fun with him in the years head. Successful young trainer Nick Olive will take charge of the colt and we are keen to see how he shapes up toward the end of the year, on looks alone it seems we wont have to wait long with this one.

Lot 2238 - Magic Millions National Sale
(Gold Coast)
Chestnut Colt 2006
By Not A Single Doubt Ex Game Promise (Luskin Star)
Vendor: Evergreen Stud Farm (As Agent)
Buyer: Blue Sky Thoroughbreds
Price: $80,000
Racing Fund Shareholding: 60%
Trained by: Danny O'Brien (Flemington)
Description:
A lovely colt from a full sister to Reisling Slipper trial winner Bold Promise, the Dam of Golden Slipper winner Merlene. His sire Not A Single Doubt was 2nd to Dance Hero in the Magic Millions and won the Canonbury and Zeditave Stks as a 2yo. Its a 2yo family all over and this colt looks to be early enough, however we'll let his trainer Danny O'Brien take him through at his own pace and bring him along as he sees fit. Buying from the June Sale means he will be behind the other Fund purchases that have already been broken in. The colt will be sent to the breakers in the next month in QLD before being transferred to Danny O'Brien's operation. A great acquisition and cheap at $80,000 against the market for similar colts at other sales this year, this colt rounds out the fund's stock for next year. Bring on the races in 2008/09!
