Broodmare Selection and Advice

Breeding thoroughbreds requires dedication, patience, planning, and just a little bit of luck! The Blue Sky team has extensive experience at domestic and international thoroughbred sales, and we know what it takes to maximize the commercial value of your investment. Understanding global trends is critical to this process, and Blue Sky Thoroughbreds is uniquely positioned through our involvement with sales in the US, Ireland, UK, NZ and Australia. Blue Sky offers breeders advice on selection of broodmares for private sale and at the major Australasian thoroughbred breeding stock auctions of William Inglis, Magic Millions and New Zealand Bloodstock. Blue Sky has purchased on behalf of major Australian breeders Yarraman Park, Starcraft owner Paul Makin and Woodside Park in recent times.

Weanling Selection and Advice

Blue Sky actively sources quality weanlings for clients for private sale and at Australasia’s major weanling sale auctions. Purchasing weanlings to eventually race or to re-sell into the market as yearlings requires much research and groundwork to select the right horse for success later in the sales ring and on the track. Our team has the knowledge and experience to select the right weanlings on type and pedigree to give investors their best chance of commercial return at the yearling sales. Over the year, we inspect thousands of weanlings and purchase on behalf of individual clients, partnerships and syndicates.
