Boom Colts to debut in separate states…

Friday’s impressive Randwick trial winners Hiatus and Beneteau will make their race debuts in separate states on Australia Day.

Both youngsters caught the eye when winning their respective heats by five lengths on Friday with Hiatus easily clocking the fastest time of the 740-metre trials held.
Trainer Paul Messara said Hiatus, a son of Exceed And Excel, would head to Caulfield to begin his career in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m).

Beneteau is a son of Redoute’s Choice out of Slice Of Paradise, a handy mare formerly trained by Lee Freedman who is a full sister to the four-time Group I winning filly Alinghi.

Beneteau was purchased by Blue Sky Thoroughbreds for $1 million at last year’s Inglis Easter yearling sale.
“Beneteau is more forward than Hiatus but I think Benetau might be more of a 1200-metre horse at this stage,” Messara said.

“Hiatus will go down to run at Caulfield in the Blue Diamond Preview on Tuesday while I’ll keep Beneteau for a two-year-old race at Randwick on the same day.”

Messara said the colts will be kept apart throughout their first racing campaigns.

TAB Sportsbet currently rates Hiatus as a $21 chance to win the Group I Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) while Beneteau is at $15.
