Blue Sky Stallion Fund’s Common Interest Rates Highly Amongst Top Juveniles…

With just a few weeks of the 2008/09 racing season to go, its interesting to look over the list of Australia’s highest rated juveniles from the season.

Timeform rated 111 from just 3 starts, Blue Sky Stallion Fund’s Common Interest remains the highest rated 2yo colt by Champion juvenile sire More Than Ready for the season and the 11th highest rated juvenile overall in Australia, an incredible achievement from just 3 career runs.

Impressive on debut winning at Bendigo by nearly 5 lengths, followed by an easy victory in the Listed Festival of Racing Stakes at Flemington, Common Interest headed to Sydney to compete in the Group 2 Pago Pago stakes at Rosehill. Not handling the Sydney direction and suffering an injury to a near side front hoof after being galloped on early in the race, punters were prevented from seeing the best of the colt in the Sydney feature. Forced to the paddock as a result of this setback, the Stallion Fund graduate missed a tilt at the Golden Slipper and Sires Produce features.

Common Interest this week returned to Freedman Brother’s Markdel facility to commence full training ahead of an assault on the Melbourne Spring Carnival features. Stallion Fund members look forward in anticipation for his return along with Fund stablemates Lancetti (Redoute’s Choice ex Dottoressa), Lemieux (Redoute’s Choice ex French Cut, Dempsey (Flying Spur ex Murphy’s Arch) and Red Hot Choice (Redoute’s Choice ex Red Hot Mama).

The second stakes winner from Blue Sky’s unique performance based fund model, Common Interest follows on from the success of the Blue Sky Filly Fund’s She’s Meaner, herself a top rated juvenile of her year, winning the Tommy Smith Slipper by 6 lengths and going down a nose in the $1m Magic Millions Classic.

Blue Sky has purchased a number of yearlings in 2009 for this year’s Stallion and Filly Fund editions including the Redoute’s Choice ex Slice Of Paradise colt (Easter $1m), Encosta De Lago ex Prawn Cocktail Filly (Easter $700k) and the juvenile Group winner Wanted’s half brother by Charge Forward ex Fragmentation (Easter $450k).
