Blue Sky Cheer Winners…

Blue Sky Thoroughbreds had reason to cheer home a couple of smart winners during the week having purchased siblings to them at the yearling sales earlier this year.

At Bendigo on Thursday the regally bred colt Leoncavallo saluted at his second race start adding further to the impressive record of his dam Prawn Cocktail (USA), whose yearling filly (pictured) by Encosta de Lago was snapped up by Blue Sky in partnership with BBA Ireland for $700,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Also offering an important update for a Blue Sky purchase was the win of the Patinack Farm owned Show a Heart filly Web of Love, who scored a stylish win at Randwick on the Monday of the long weekend.

Blue Sky paid $140,000 to secure her half-sister by Falvelon from the Glenlogan draft at the 2008 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

Also of interest to the Blue Sky team was the sale of classy filly Hips Don’t Lie for $770,000 at the MM National Broodmare Sale last week.

Blue Sky secured her older half-sister by Carnegie (IRE), Ulmer, at the NZB National Broodmare Sale for $65,000 on behalf of Secret Hills Farm and not surprisingly she will remain in New Zealand to be covered by Stravinsky (USA), sire of Hips Don’t Lie.
