Blue Sky Colours Salute at Sandown…

The prominent blue and white colours of Blue Sky Thoroughbreds were carried to victory at Sandown on Wednesday by beautifully bred Red Ransom (USA) filly Miss Zapper.

The Lee Freedman trained Miss Zapper put in a tenacious effort, leading all the way to win the 1600 metre Ratings 72 event by a short head on a very heavy track, her second win from eight starts.

She jumped quickly and crossed to lead, controlling the race to her liking, then pulled out plenty at the finish to hold off all challengers in a tough and courageous performance.

A $300,000 purchase for Blue Sky from the Kitchwin Hills draft at the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Miss Zapper (pictured as a yearling) is a striking bay with a bold white blaze and an impressive pedigree.

A daughter of in-form stallion Red Ransom (USA), sire of recent Group One winners Onemorenomore and Typhoon Tracy, Miss Zapper is the first foal of the Rory’s Jester mare Volted In, a half-sister to Group One winners Anamato and Drum, also Group One placed Tambour, the dam of champion racehorse Grand Armee.
